How to promote your indiegame on Pinterest

Pinterest is a visual discovery platform that allows users to discover and save ideas for a variety of topics, including video games. By using Pinterest to promote your indie game, you can reach a targeted audience of users and new gamers (or other game developers).

There are several ways you can use Pinterest to promote your video game, here are some tips for promoting your indie game on Pinterest:

  1. Create a Pinterest account for your indie game and start by pinning images and videos related to your game. This will help you establish your game's presence on the platform and give people an idea of what your game is all about. For example: "has your game a retrogaming style? Start to pin images and videos about famous retrogames like Sonic, Super Mario or SNES and NES games!"
  2. Use relevant keywords in your pins and boards to help people discover your game. For example, if your game is a puzzle game, you can use keywords like "puzzle game," "indie game," and "brain teaser" in your pins and board titles. If it is in pixel art, you can use keywords like "retro games", "pixel art", "pixel artist", "pixel games", etc.
  3. Collaborate with other Pinterest users who have an interest in indie games. You can share each other's pins, repin content from each other's boards, and even co-create a board together. This will help you reach a wider audience and build relationships with other members of the indie game community.
  4. Utilize Pinterest's promoted pins feature to reach even more people. Promoted pins are pins that you pay to have shown to a targeted audience, and they can be a great way to get your game in front of potential players. Then you can see all the stats about your promoted pins and check what are the next pins to share.
  5. Engage with your audience by responding to comments and messages, and asking for feedback on your game. This will help you build a loyal following and foster a community of fans around your game.
Pinterest can be an effective tool for promoting your video game because it allows you to showcase the visual elements of your game, such as character designs and game environments, in a way that is easy for users to discover and share.
Additionally, Pinterest has a large and engaged user base, making it a potentially valuable platform for reaching new players and building buzz for your game.

It's time to investigate with Brok!

BROK the InvestiGator is an adventure and beat-em-up game where animals have replaced mankind, developed by CowCat! It is not their first game, they already released few time ago, Demetrios, an adventure game (point&click)!

But Brok is different! Like an "evolution". This light cyberpunk world is filled with animals that live under a dome, away from the pollution outside the city. However, the city is not safe either.

Here we play the role of Brok, an alligator who is a former boxer and a private detective. He lives together with the son of his deceased wife, a new case that he is working on seems to shed some light over this. The game is designed to easily switch between side scrolling moments and adventure/investigation areas. You need to use all your skills in order to try and investigate every location, while searching for clues.

However, as you play you will encounter a multitude of enemies that you have to battle before you move onward. BROK the InvestiGator does come with various hints, and you can also combine clues to uncover the truth. Fights can be skipped if you want, but they offer a fresh, new way to play the game.

Every choice you make in this game will impact the story and gameplay.

Narrative-driven game that blends action, puzzles and investigation in never-before-seen ways. Will you use your brain... or your brawn?

There are 6 chapters to play through, each one with its own mysteries and challenges that you need to solve. Graphics exude the 80s/90s cartoons, and they help push the entire experience and gameplay to the next level. If you enjoy adventure games and beat-em-ups, then this is a great game to try out. The story is innovative, creative, and it also changes based on the choices you make.

Give BROK the InvestiGator a try right away if you want a cool, fun game where your choices do matter!

Champions and file/link preview!

Hi guys! We are continuing to improve the website adding few fixes and new features!

In this period we are focusing our attention on the players.
So we added:
- Latest Champions in Events Area
(You can see who are the users that realized the latest records in the games with the online leaderboards)

But indiexpo is also the only website where you can upload your game on our servers or also just to put the link to an external link.
But "where I am going?"
For this reason (inspired by Reddit) we added two features:
- icon in the Download button if it has an external link
- file name (or link preview) when you're clicking on the Download button

And to make it fun, now you can also:
- to add links to images or gif in comments (and news area). The website will show them automatically!

Cheat or Cooperate? Nicky Case shows The Evolution of Trust

During World War I, peace broke out. It was Christmas 1914 on the Western Front.
Despite strict orders not to chillax with the enemy, British and German soldiers left their trenches, crossed No Man's Land, and gathered to bury their dead, exchange gifts, and play games.

Meanwhile: it's 2017, the West has been at peace for decades, and wow, we suck at trust.
Surveys show that, over the past forty years, fewer and fewer people say they trust each other.

So here's our puzzle: Why, even in peacetime, do friends become enemies? And why, even in wartime, do enemies become friends?

Nicky Case thinks that the game theory can help explain our epidemic of distrust – and how we can fix it! So, to understand all this...

You can play online his game, The Evolution of Trust, to test several combinations and to learn so more about the cooperation. Is it possible in our modern time? What are the consequences?

It was translated in over 20 languages and share all around the world.

Pixel Art + Netflix = Landflix Odyssey

Landflix is a free indie game about the tv series, like DareDevil, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and others. It's still a demo but it's very cool. And it's in exclusive on indiexpo.
Let's see more about it:

The Studio

Rome-based indie dev Fantastico Studio has unveiled Landflix Odyssey, a 2D platformer that parodies your favourite cult TV shows while you explore a mock version of Netflix.

The Game

The game has five different worlds - with each one pastiching everything from Game Of Thrones to Stranger Things - as you hunt down a set of radioactive batteries for a man who's purposely ripping off Doc Brown from Back To The Future. It's very silly, and very 2018, but we like the look of its mixture of satire and challenging platforming mechanics.

Nintendo Switch

The campaign has a stretch goal for a Switch version at €20,000 (roughly $25,000). Fantastico had told us that a release on Switch had been secured even without the Kickstarter, and reaching the main campaign goal would allow for the company to avoid going through a publisher.

It's on Kickstarter! You can support it here

This is our cool cover!

Ao Oni: from Rpg Maker 2003... to the Cinema

The Animation anime film revealed the character designs, cast, and story.
Ao Oni is a Japanese survival horror game with RPG and puzzle elements. Although each version differs heavily from the others, the objective is always the same. Locked in a mansion, you explore and solve puzzles while running from an enigmatic demon. It’s made with Rpg Maker.

It’s free and you can download it here.

The film, in comparison to the currently airing television anime comedy series, will be closer to the traditional mystery horror of the original game, although it will have a new story that is different from the original game, novelization, and live-action films.
The independently developed freeware game gained a cult status online in Japan, gaining notoriety on websites such as Niconico and YouTube where Ao Oni-related videos exceeded 50 million views in 2013.

The popularity of the game revolves around the effectiveness of its horror aspects despite being a simple game, with the background music often being cited as a key contributor to the chilling atmosphere used to incite fear.

The story takes place in a suburban town by a mountain forest. The five members of the high school's folklore research club are trying to think of ideas for the culture festival when they discover a former member's collection of research notes from 40 years ago. The legend described in the notes resembles a popular free game called "Ao Oni," so they choose the game as their culture festival theme. They are able to meet with the game's creator, but shortly afterward the creator dies mysteriously. The club members are investigating the mystery at the school when the door shuts and they find themselves locked inside.

The film is slated to open in 2017.

User Stories: Signorino Alessio - How to Make an Horror Game

Hello guys! My name is Signorino Alessio!
I'm the developer of Silent Memories P.T., a fan RPG Maker game based from the famous original game Silent Hills P.T. developed by Hideo Kojima for Konami.
I just want to say first of all, thanks all of you supporters, when everyone test it and says how good it was, that makes me very happy!
I'll continue to work on it, to give you something that Konami didn't.

About your games:
As a developer, I want to give some advices if your planning to create games!
First of all, you really need to think what you want to do, and be sure if you could really work for that game, because if you think to do something you can't realize, you could give up soon. I had this problem one time, trust me. My favourite RPG tool is VX Ace, because is professional but simple. It can support most of formats and it have a lot of resources. You can obviously choose some other engine, but this is what I love.
If you are planning to create something big, find help and create a team like us, you can't do it all alone! About the publish, it's better by starting on RPG Maker Forums, that's the nice place to publish your games, like I did on "Rpg²s", one of the best Italian Forums. You can add your games on IndieDB ecc... I would prefer Indiexpo because it has free access for every player and developer, and the staff is really helpful!

My story: How Silent Memories is born?
I always liked and played the Silent Hill saga. I meet this game my first time when I bought Metal Gear Solid, which included the Silent Hill 1 Demo. After the PS1 game, I played Silent Hill 2 & 3 on PS2 and I really started to love this series. Even if I couldn't play other Silent Hill games, I always watched the others series on Youtube.
The day I met Silent Hills was during PewDiePie's gameplay
I really liked the atmosphere of that game, but then it comes the bad news: Silent Hills Cancelled. After 2 years, I saw a lot of fan games based on P.T., but I never seen a RPG Fan Game, so I just said "Why don't we try too with an RPG Maker version?". So the project started, and finally is here. Of course, I couldn't make it without my friends, everyone in the Team helped for Testing, Graphics and especially my two best friends Silvio Fosso, my Co-Developer, helping every time, and Dakota James Emery Dennis, our best composer, who did a Soundtrack Cover of the original Silent Hill 1 Theme.

My pubblic:
People seems enjoy our creation, and that make us really happy!
For the success, we started to think about a sequel with the full story of this game.
For the sequel I searched a lot of theories of the Silent Hills fans, and we found everything useful for the full plot! We're just thinking to call the Sequel
"Silent Memories P.S.", which means "Playable Story" or to leave it Silent Memories, because the first letters S.M. could mean "Story Mode". People asked to make it for MV, but unfortunally, that engine can't use my strategies, but anything could change. I want to say again, thanks all you folks!

Our goal, is to let people know, that TwoD Studios can bring some beautiful games made in Italy!
Thank all you folks and thanks to Indiexpo and his staff!
